One of the greatest 2D platformers ever created and certainly the best Castlevania game yet, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night will be hitting Xbox Live Arcade next Wednesday (March 21). Blending a memorable storyline and iconic characters (you play as Dracula\'s son, Alucard, fer crissakes!), RPG elements, and a long (read: MASSIVE) game, SOTN is going to be a huge release for Xbox Live Arcade.

The National Summit on Video Games, Youth and Policy is being held in Minnesota on October 20th and October 21st. The conference is sponsored by Iowa State University and the National Institute on Media and the Family, a group that\'s known for being critical of the game industry in the past. Will the event be hostile to pro-game journalists that have actively criticized the research of some of its speakers? Possibly. Are we going anyway? Absolutely. With a issues like The Truth in Video Game Ratings Act in Congress, I can\'t think of a better place for our industry\'s attention to fall.

EA showed off the latest addition to the Battlefield Franchise: Battlefield 2142. This installment adds a little sci-fi flair to the action, but remains true to the roots of the series in its realism and excellent online multiplayer support. We just wish it had some kind of interesting storyline, since the futuristic setting easily allows for the most imaginative (or at least slightly clever) premise of all the Battlefield games. In WildWords, the \"blank letter\" tile is replaced with an asterisk (*) tile that can represent one or several letters. Sony Online Entertainment announced today that they would offer the new Sony Station Access program. For a single monthly subscription of $21.99 gamers can access several popular MMOs including Everquest, The Matrix Online, Star Wars Galaxies, and Planetside. In all, over 10 titles in five active online worlds are included in the Station Access membership, and some titles, such as Everquest II, have been upgraded to allow more character slots. The Station Access Collection will be sold at retail for $39.99 and will offer five games for PC and a free 30-day trial of the Station Access subscription. Read more here.

Guilty Gear Dust Strikers is gearing up for a March 1 release from Majesco. Building on the success of previous incarnations of the 2D fighter genre, the game features 21 Guilty Gear characters, most from previous games. In addition, there are six modes of gameplay, bringing plenty of gameplay. Further enhancements for the DS version of Guilty Gear include four player WiFi multiplayer and seven games designed to work with the DS touch screen. Still not enough? Midway Arcade Treasures: Extended Play is a collection of 21 classic games for PSP. Featuring arcade perfect ports of Spy Hunter, Sinistar, Defender, Paperboy and 720, there are also over a dozen other classic games which have been enhanced to support WiFi multiplayer. These include classics like Gauntlet, Joust and Rampage, but also the cult classics Mortal Kombat I, II, and III. No, we\'re not talking about a legal document limiting the power of English monarchs in the year of 1215 (But, if you can make a fun videogame about that, we\'d love to see it!). Atlus and Softmax\'s Magna Carta: Tears of Blood is a new roleplaying game for the PS2 that has made its way from Korea to Japan, and is now on its way to make a new niche in the United States. Midway has announced that Earth 2160 will come out for PC on November 8. They have also dropped a handful of new screens on us, as well as the info that a preorder package for Earth 2160 will feature a DVD full of goodies: maps and enhancements for 2160, as well as the full version of Earth 2150, the cult-classic predecessor. That is not a bad package for strategy fans, and so far Earth 2160 looks to be one of the more robust RTS titles set to drop this Fall. Check it out.

We got Chris Martin\'s skinny butt in the ring with WWE Day of Reckoning 2 for the GameCube, and, oddly enough, he came out with a weird afterglow that made him forget about all the bruises and mat burns. Day of Reckoning 2 is pretty much a \"bigger, better, more\" improvement over its predecessor, and veteran in-the-ring game developer, Yuke\'s Media Creations, really brings it with a game good enough to make non-wrestling fans want to play it. Earth 2160 is the sequel to the cult hit Earth series, developed by Reality Pump Games. Midway has picked it up, and will publish the title in the US in November for PC.
